19 Day East African Safari Kenya Uganda Tanzania safari

Day 1: On arrival in Nairobi, meet and assist. Transfer for an overnight stay at Nairobi Safari club on bed and breakfast

 

Day 2: Nairobi Lake Nakuru national park  

Pick up from your hotel at 0730 hrs and drive via the scenic Great Rift Valley, A brief stop at the view point to get a view /take photos of the Great Rift Valley.  We arrive to the Pink Lake often referred so due to it’s Great masses of Flamingos in good time for lunch. Lunch at a lodge followed by full afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru lodge or Flamingo Hill camp

Day 3: Nakuru - Masai Mara  
Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive to the world's famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve arriving by lunchtime. In the afternoon, proceed for a game drive in search of wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Serena /similar
Day 4: Masai Mara Safari
After breakfast, you will begin your day’s trip to explore the Mara region, packed with the elephant, zebra, rhino and all kinds of game through out the year with the spectacular wildebeest migration from Serengeti occurring mainly in July and August.
 
The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.

Day 5: Masai Mara Tour –Musoma -serengeti
Breakfast then view game as you exit the park and drive to Serengeti via Isebania boarder.Dinnera and overnight stay at Serengeti Serena lodge

Full day spent exploring the park. Dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti Serena lodge


Serengeti National park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.


Day 7: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
Breakfast then view game as you proceed to Ngorongoro via Olduvai gorge - Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge beautifully set by the crater rim
The Olduvai Gorge cuts through rock beds layered in time sequence from 2 million years ago to the present. It is here where humanoid bones have been found dating back to over 1.75 million years including a direct ancestor of modern man. Fossil footprints (over three million years old) have also been found here and are the most ancient footprints yet discovered. There is an excellent site museum where you can explore the diggings with a guide and it is also a great place to view

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, we drive south to the magnificent Ngorongoro crater via the historical Olduvai Gorge whilst game watching only interrupted by a Packed lunches enroute. We stop and set camp at the Ngorongoro sopa lodge

The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena. It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater - Lake Manyara
After breakfast, depart the Crater and drive through the highlands to Lake Manyara, stopping off at Mto wa Mbu village en route for a great cultural lunch. From here, you’ll continue to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive before ending the day on the rim of the crater at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Hotel

Day 10: Lake Manyara - Arusha
Depart after breakfast and head east, down the fascinating escarpment of the Rift Valley towards the village of Makuyuni and onto Arusha. The journey will pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. Lunch in Arusha before being dropped off at kibo palace for overnight

Dy 11Arusha -Namanga-Amboseli

Depart after breakfast via Namanga  to Amboseli National park  game viewed enroute to Amboseli Serena,arriving in good time for lunch ,followed by full afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena lodge

Amboseli -Nairobi 

Depart after breakfast,game enrouteas we exit the park to Nairobi

Day 13: Kampala – Kibale National Park

 

You will be picked up from your hotel by your safari guide at 8:00 am and be driven to Kibale National Park. You will stop in Fort Portal town for lunch before arriving in the afternoon. After checking in, you will go for a guided walk in Bigodi swamp to look for different bird species like the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue Throated Roller among other bird species. Return for dinner and overnight at Primates Lodge/Chimps’ Nest.

Day 14: Chimp tracking / transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning you will go for the morning Chimpanzee tracking in the forest. The Chimpanzee, a delightful ape whose evocative pant-hoot call is a definitive sound of the African rain Forest is well represented in Kibale National park. Later drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will drive along the Rwenzori ranges and Savanna grasslands. Queen Elizabeth National park boasts of a variety of big game like; lions, elephants, buffaloes, Hyenas, Hippos, bushbucks, the comical warthogs and rare / elusive leopards. Dine at Katara lodge/Simba safari Camp.

Day 15: Game drive / Launch cruise

 Before sunrise embark on an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You will most likely to meet grazing Hippos, lions, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, waterbucks, the elusive leopard and of course the several warthogs.

After having your lunch, drive to the dock on the channel for an afternoon launch cruise on Kazinga channel that joins Lakes Edward and George. It is a waterway that is filled with schools of hippos and elephants, buffalos which can be seen at the banks.

Day 16: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast you will begin the day’s trip with a game drive along Kasenyi track as you continue via Maramagambo and Ishasha towards Bwindi diverse habitants, like Ishasha River, Savannah woodland, and a marshy Lake Edward, flats support a variety of wildlife including elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, mongoose, waterbucks, Topi and a variety of birds. If time allows, explore the village and native communities to taste the African setting if time permits. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort camp Engagi Lodge/ Buhoma community Bandas Budget.

 

Day 17: Gorilla tracking expedition –

East African safariTake early morning breakfast and proceed to the Impenetrable forest for gorilla tracking. After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off for the trekking into the rain tropical forest covering the hills surrounding Virunga Volcanoes. Make sure you carry with you packed lunch and water. Remember you need jungle boots since gorilla tracking involves walking up steep densely forested hills before finally coming across the endangered gorillas camouflaged in the dense tropical vegetation. Relax in the evening as you wait for your dinner at Gorilla Resort/ Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 18: Bwindi National Park – Kabale (Lake Bunyonyi)

 

After breakfast, transfer to Kabale where you will have your lunch. Take on an afternoon boat ride to some of the islands on the lake. The boat ride is most likely to yield sightings of rare bird species. Have the evening at leisure as you enjoy the scenic lake Bunyonyi. Over night stay at your lodge.

Day 19: Kabale – Kampala ( East Africa Safari )

 

After breakfast, return to Kampala with lunch en-route. Along the way you will be able to see banana plantations, undulating hills and the Ankole long-horned cattle. Stop over at the Equator for a photo shoot and at Mpambire local drum makers or any other crafts display centre for souvenirs before proceeding to Kampala which marks the end of your East African safari.
