L. Mburo National park
Lake Mburo National park is a very special place ;
each part of it is alive with a variety of interests and colour
. It is situated in Mbarara district and it is the smallest of
Uganda's savannah National parks. It's sculptured landscape with
rolling grassy hills and idyllic lake shores has varied mosaic
of habitats i.e.; forest galleries , rich acacia tree valleys ,
seasonal and permanent swamps which all support a wealth of wild
life .Its mosaic habitats of dry hillside , rocky outcrops
,bushes , thicket , open wooded savannah , forests lakes and
swamps are home to surprising diversity of plants and animals.
Lake mburo national park is famous for its richness in bio
diversity . It has about 68 different species of mammals . The
common ones are zebras , Impalas, buffaloes , Topis and eland
that are herbivores and leopards , hyenas and jackals that are
predators.
The park also has 315 different species of birds including the
rare shoebill stork , Papyrus yellow warbler , African fin foot
, saddle billed stork , brown chested wattled plover ,
carruther's cisticola , great snipe abyssinian ground hornbill
and white winged warbler . The woody vegetation of lake Mburo is
dominated by acacia species , olea species and abosia species

ITINERARY FOR THE WILDLIFE TRIP
DAY 1: KAMPALA - QUEEN ELIZABETH
NATIONAL PARK
Drive early
morning towards the west from Kampala and have a stopover at the
equator for photographs, Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National
Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of
the journey. Have lunch en route. A game drive En route may be
rewarded with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes,
Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. Over night stay at
Mweya Safari lodge or the institute of ecology (HB)
DAY 2: GAME VIEWING SAFARI - QUEEN
ELIZABETH NP
An early morning game drive in this park, provides
excellent opportunities to see Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest
Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs,
Topi and Bush bucks and many more. After lunch, Enjoy the unique
2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward.
This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of
Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water's
edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for
photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird
life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident

DAY 3: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING -
KYAMBURA GORGE
After a very early breakfast, Option 1, with parked
Breakfast, head for the Kyambura gorge for chimpanzee tracking
and a variety of primates. Return to for lunch. Option 2; get up
with a rising sun for another game drive to view wildlife.
Return for breakfast. After lunch, go sightseeing in the crater
region - it is a marvel! Visit the Katwe Salt works for a
glimpse into traditional salt mining. Dinner and Overnight at
Mweya safari lodge or institute of Ecology.
DAY 4: LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
After Breakfast, drive to L. Mburo NP. The Park contains a
variety of attractions; it is dominated by extensive wetlands,
rolling grassy hills, seasonal and permanent swamps, wooden
savannah, and forests, which harbors a variety of plants and
animal species. It is because of these diverse ecosystems that
render the park to be one of the richest in bio diversity like
Zebras, Elands, and Buffaloes, Impalas, Roam Antelopes,
Leopards, Hyenas, Hippos, Bush bucks, and Klipspringer.The
presence of the Lake within the park enables visitors to take a
boat ride do sport fishing and see the Crocodiles, Pelicans,
Shoebill stork, Hippos, Cormorants, Fish eagles, and a lot more.
After lunch take a boat trip inside Lake Mburo and see for
yourself the Crocodiles, Pelicans, Hippos, Herons and the rare

DAY 5: GAME VIEWING SAFARI - LAKE
MBURO NP
After early breakfasts, you are off for an early morning
game drive that offers a wonderful encounter with the Zebras,
Waterbucks, Buffaloes, Topis, Elands, Leopards, and a variety of
bird species .After the game drive Head to Kampala having lunch
en route, the drive back to Kampala stopover at the Mpigi Royal
Drum Makers. Here you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums
being crafted using methods passed down through generations.
There will also be time to stop over at the equator for
photographs and you will arrive in Kampala by early evening.
